Dear WMS members,
Hello again, and welcome to another weekly email! For the rest of the term, we will be sending out an email every wednesday with infomation on whats coming up over the next week or so, before its too late. As always, feel free to skip sections that don't apply to you (although this week I would suggest they're all worth at least reading), but please do check them all - you'd be amazed how many times we get asked something we answered previously. This weeks covers LaTex classes, Talks and a social to Laserquest.
LaTeX Classes
As mentioned last week, we will be running another set of LaTeX classes this term. They will be held from 1-3, Linux Room thursday weeks 3 and 4, and if there's still reasonable demand for them we'll look into scheduling some more.
Talks: This week & next
Firstly, a reminder: there will be a talk on the Stolz–Cesàro theorem: 7pm this Thursday, in MS01. (ie the 26th). The only prerequsite being just some basic knowledge of Analysis I, so everyone will be able to follow.
"The First "Roger's Tribe" will be Wednesday. Held in MS.04 from 13:00 to 14:00, it is lead by a group of second years aiming to fill the gap left by the cancellation of the excursions module. There will be more info at http://www.facebook.com/groups/182865558458845/ and on the society website in due course.
Finally (for this section at least), we would like to give advanced notice that Samir Siksek is giving a talk next Thursday, 2 Feb at 7 in L4. I'm not quite sure what the subject will be as yet, but anyone who's been taught by Samir in the past will know how interesting he is, so it's well worth going to.
Socials: LaserQuest
WMS's much anticipated LaserQuest Social will be Friday week 4 in Coventry. We will be meeting at 6.00pm at the Arts Centre bus stop (under the electronic sign!) ready to get the 12 to Coventry at around 5 past. We can have either 3 games for £10 or 3 games for £9 if you bring your student ID so its your choice :P [:P] Here is a link to the LaserQuest Coventry site: www.laserquestcoventry.co.uk, and we hope to see you there :) [:)]
Thats all for now, and as always any questions feel free to email me back (simply replying to this email will now work). If you have anything you want us to organise, or better still if you're organising something we can tell people about let me know.
Thanks for listening,
Guy
(secretary)
