1- Prove that for k > 5, 123454321k is a perfect square.

2- Given that 777p = N4, find the smallest value of p if N is an integer.

3- In a mathematical contest, three problems, A, B and C were posted. Among the participants there were 25 students who solved at least one problem each. Of all the contestants who didn’t solved problem A, the number who solved B was twice the number who solved C. The number of students who solved only problem A was one more than the number of students who solved A and at least one other problem. Of all students who solved just one problem, half didn’t solve problem A. How many students solved .

thank u for u help.

1) since 123454321 = 412 * 2712, we see that if k is a perfect square, then 123454321*k is a perfect square.
2) Since 777=3*7*37 and 4=22, we see that p=4 is the smallest (with N = 777).
3) No question there. Just turn it into algebra. Easy.

Jamie !!
$\displaystyle 123454321k = 41^2\cdot 271^2 k $ as you said but this can't be a perfect square for all k, it is just not square free for any k.
Then 123454321k is a perfect square exactly when k is a perfect square, so, for example, it isn't a perfect square for k=5,6,7,8,10...

Yes, on these forums we are used to being asked questions by people for the purposes of their degree course. Evidently this is not for the purpose of a degree here. Not that this is a problem.

Surely you would learn this theory better if you tackled the problems yourself? I cannot fathom for what purpose you would need to ask such questions anyway.

Also your source of questions is a mystery, if you wrote them yourself you would have no trouble in solving them. Otherwise where did you acquire them and why do you need the answers?

i know friend that and i know if i,m answer the question by myself it is better but if i can,t understand how to solve any question how long i have to to stay trying to solve it .
sure long time so i have to ask and share the question and the answer with the friend and the people
that is why i,m asking.
thanks for all

I would disagree with that, some people ask out of sheer interest in maths. (not that many though, granted :P)
