Does anyone know of any good mathematics videos on youtube. I reccently watched:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpocOKj0lxs&feature=channel , which was quite a nice talk on the primes (although I don't think it is aimed at a particularly specalist audience given the analogies used throughout and general explanation of the results, which was fine given the excellent exposition). Anyway what else have people found on the tube which had some mathematical content? (I did see some of the Catsters! videos, but feel free to repost)

Here are a few I know of:

Not Knot: Part 1 and Part 2
Sphere Eversion: Part 1 and Part 2
Random torus eversion video I found by searching for the sphere eversion
The Catsters video channel
The classic Möbius Transformations Revealed
Cross section of a 4D torus
Random Hopf fibration video that I just found
Dimensions, not on YouTube and pretty boring at the beginning, but there's some nice stuff like the Hopf fibration later on
And finally Look Around You: Maths

It might also be worth checking out the high-quality versions that are not available on YouTube for some of these, like for Möbius Transformations Revealed.

By the way, got to love some of the comments:
"da fuck" for the torus eversion
"ok im lost. i got up to 3D, which i think is length, hight and width.... whats the fouth dimension?" for the 4D torus cross-section
"-fuck yeah, looked like the butt end of a wormhole or a supermassive black in the middle of a galaxy with a matter jet."
"-exactly -- this also occurs on a subatomic scale, according to my theory." for the Hopf fibration (also worth mentioning "das ist der geometrie der elektron")

This guy is great and not, plus neutral (but mostly not). Apparently Poincare couldn't prove that $ S^3 $ is simply connected. I really need to invite him for a DG special at some point.

P.S. Less characteristic videos of him:
Russian Dance Tutorial
Dance practice
Chocolate Rain

I've just really, really, really thought about it and decided the study of Tay theory is a singular study and so simply connected with pure thought and therefore right, wrong and neutral. Any attempt to disprove this statement is right, wrong and neutral ad infinitum (which means goes on and on)...

He pretty much says what I conclude in my essay... As a matter of fact I'm worried that my tutor might thing I plagiarised since I point out on my last page that 3 dimensions does not mean 2, doesn't mean 10, it doesn't mean 15. It means 3.
Is this common knowledge? Or do I need to reference him in my essay?

I also started my essay by explaining to the reader that if they didn't like the content then they shouldn't blame me, I'm just a vessel.

One other similarity is that neither my essay or this man's video actually say anything at all.

Owen.

I can sense that you're frustrated for spending one hour of your time watching it.

I could only listen to that guy for about 5 seconds. It doesn't really matter whether I'm referring to Mr. Pro theory or Tay, does it?

Oh yeah, I forgot to post this collaborative effort from Arthur C Clarke, Ian Stewert and David Gilmour:

It is for this exact reason that Waters will always remain the significant half of Pink Floyd... Waters' songs go on albums, Gilmour's on educational shorts. Conclusive.

The reason for that is that documentary music doesn't have lyrics, so Waters would have been useless. Besides, Gilmour is still the only member of Pink Floyd who was actually able to play his instrument properly. :P

Perhaps capable of playing his instrument, but putting together a song? Hmm... not so sure. Listening to Gilmour's solo material is something I do when attempting an endurance challenge... similar to attempting to listen to Dire Straits all day, or trying to eat a large bowl of overcooked spaghetti.

Whatsmore, David Gilmour should never have been born.

Owen.

PS. The one thing he did achieve was producing the music of Kate Bush... and a world without 'Wuthering Heights' would be a very sad world indeed.

Actually that video was quite enjoyable, I liked watching the video zooming in for ages on a fractal with David Gilmour solo music background. I admit it would've been shit with Roger Waters singing about how much he hates Bush.

I agree with that, Waters is a noob.

I like to prove it prove it.

[edit]: who posted this? I don't remember doing it! Besides, I would never qualify the phrase "I agree" with the words "with that". The grammer is not my style at all! Who's trolling me (I ask, even knowing that it's clearly Cosmin)?

I would like to add that Owen is such a moron for not enjoying the music of the very likeable David Gilmour.

Likeable? He clearly picked all the fights with Waters... Not only this but he has serious alopetia issues.

Regards.

In 2001 Waters was recognised as the most under-achieving man to have come from a white middle class background in the "born in the 50's" category. Conclusive evidence that he is a moron with "The Final Cut".

I agree with Mr. owen.daniel, "The Final Cut" is really an awful album. I'd rather slit my throat than listen to that.

I don't know what came over me... Normally when I've been sniffing glue I don't post on the forums: what i meant to say was that The Final Cut is clearly one of Floyd's better albums and continues the superior work of the Waters lead band (just compare it to such rubbish as Piper At The Gates of Dawn and Division Bell)... A fine example of Waters' lyrical ability and intellect is seen in The Fletcher Memorial Home.

In comparison: Gilmour's attempts at music lack any intellectual depth ("Take a breath. Take a deep breath") and his contributions to Floyd's masterpieces are minimal (having joint recognition with Waters for composing just two pieces from The Wall, arguably the most ground breaking concept album/tour in history).

In all, Gilmour is a sad little man.

Regards.
Owen.

Back on topic, here's another by a slight crackpot that people might enjoy called 'A century of controversy over the Foundations of Mathematics':

There are also what sounds like quite a few good videos here, if it weren't for Real player being so bad (including lectures on Mechanics by Spivak at the bottom and David Elworthy talking about geometric stochastic analysis):

This video really made my day: recommended to everyone. Highly hilarious, I haven't been able to sleep just thinking about this... Its so lovely, and wonderful and cute and mathematical. An excellent use of the medium of song. Smiddy was singing it to me whilst he put me to bed.

It's funny that you mention that, just this morning I ended up looking at some of these videos from the Grothendieck colloquium that happened at the IHES, the one I looked at was a massively hard talk (in French) about Grothendieck's "A la poursuite des champs" ("Pursuing stacks") and "Les Dérivateurs". It was about one hour long, ten minutes into it I decided to give up and try again when I'm a grown-up.

There is a documentary here on Fermat's last theorem (with as usual no details):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiGOxGEbaik (Its not too good, but probably worth watching)

Universal covering of the circle:

Strange geometry video (with very nice music):

Hailed.
