When I asked Alex to organise this he came up with a bunch of lame excuses, so I'm going to do it instead. I propose a Top Banana outing for the maths society, preferably when there are no exams i.e. weeks 3-5 inclusive.

Prizes for anyone that comes up with a maths related pun, mine are Topological Banana and Top Bananach Spaces.

When do people think the best time for this is?

Thanks for that, tell me to organise a social while I'm in the midst of exams.

Yeah that was the plan or something similar, but first i've gotta run it by the other exec in a meeting or something. Also we should probably have something to make people actually say hello to us in top b.

Mih, let the public speak.

Lovin' the puns. I myself never go to Top B, but am only too happy to encourage anyone who does to do so in a mathematical fasion. If you think that there would be wide interest in a Top B social, then I would be willing to poke Alex with a stick, should I encounter him. The only organisation that it would really require, however, is publicity, since Top B happens every Monday night anyway. Before we do anything else, I think we should agree on our pun of choice. I vote for "Topological Banana".

On second thoughts, I might actually consider turning up if there are enough mathmos who resolve to join me. I have not yet decided what constitutes "enough".

Concerning getting people to say hello to us, would it be possible to utilise hats/armbands/dress theme/something similar?

Any ideas not derived from family guy, the simpsons or south park?

For those who use their free time constructively Cosmin is referring to a south park episode, probably entitled "free hat".

I made this poster for the social, Alex get to work making some hats, we'll need about 50 I reckon.

ps can't be bothered to redo it. would you ask da vinci to redo the mona lisa?

pps using ! to do pictures is retarded, what's wrong with "<img src=" etc?

You called us M***S** Richard, I fear I may have to eliminate that post lest it catch on. We are WMS which is a VERY different thing. M***S** was a society for making Morse students' CVs look good. It became the WMS we know and love today only when it was hijacked by people that actually cared about maths.

Edit: On second thoughts, I will consider not deleting the post on the condition that when somebody tells you how to embed images in the post (a valid question on your part), you promise to change that image before embedding it. In fact, you might want to edit that post and get rid of that link. I can delete your posts, but not edit them. Interesting eh?

It's just "!URL!".

P.S. Don't abuse your post deleting powers like Alex did, Ben. :p

Abuse!? You posted a rickroll that breaks computers in the guise of a relevant xkcd comic!

I think we could let the M*** S** slide just this once. I'll start making hets, i wish we hadn't thrown out all the newspaper.

Shall I make some punch & pie...

That's the whole point of a rickroll. What was I supposed to do, name the link "this is a rickroll"? Besides, it wasn't supposed to "break" computers and I doubt it broke or would have broken anyone else's. The proper response would have been a message warning other people (besides, they took it down after about 2-3 days). It was a clear case of post deletion abuse/shameless censorship. :P

No, you aren't a victim of institutional censorship, you were just being an annoying dick :P At least no-one here seems to have heard of the lastmeasure sites

Meh, it was a fairly innocent website. Goatse or something would have been worse.

Well no it's definitely much worse than Goatse seeing how it actually opens up so many applications etc to try to crash everything :D

What? No. It didn't open any application, all it did was resize the browser window and start moving it around the screen untill the rickroll was over. You could still close it with the x but it gave a message with every line of the song before it let you. That's strictly it. :p

P.S. In fact I've even loaded it on my own PC a few times to show people.

That's enough to crash my home pc thank you. I think my computer could have dealt with an xkcd comic.

Cosmin, are you talking about lastmeasure ? Doesn't seem like it, I know the one you're referring to (the internet is serious business one), it's not that that I was talking about. Otherwise I agree.

Yeah, internetisseriousbusiness.com is what I had posted and the only PCs it crashes are those with 1980s processors... I haven't checked out lastmeasure since I assumed it would do something like that (but I do love the sneaky way in which CJ mentionned it so that people would try :P).

I had, but I don't think it's real, he never moves away from the mic to breathe in. Still good though. :P

P.S. img src works but you need to be exec to disable the html filter I think.

I couldn't figure out if your disbelief was a joke, so I'll point out that it does seem real as he apparently released that cover as a single just before he recorded Chocolate Rain.

Imagine internetisseriousbusiness, but instead of a video of Astley, you've got multiple windows of goatse, tubgirl, hai2u, meatspin and the pain series (I think on the last one). And instead of the dulcet tones of Ricky, there is a looping, very loud WAV screaming "I am looking at porn"

Welcome to lastmeasure <3

The great thing about it is that you can make the address look somewhat convincing. It's just xxxxx.on.nimp.org, where xxxxx is any word you want. Have fun!

Haha that's awesome. I'll make sure to use that sometime (preferably on Alex while he's at home).

On a related note: Tay Zonday has ADD.

About the TayRoll, I wasn't sure if it was real or not. It seems like it is his voice (though a bit different) and the lips synch well with the music but it's not on his official channel.

The Tayroll is definitely legit, I remember when it first came out. Maybe he took it down because of licensing issues?

It's amazing, my eyes skipped that entire post. Perhaps my subconcious read the website names and made me skip over it. Brrrrrr, the internet is a chilly place.
