Ok, it's that time. To all people who've been doubtful, we are going forward with the idea of doing WMS posters for all members. You might even have noticed a few of them around the department, in particular on one of the boards in the undergraduate workroom. We haven't finished sorting out the details about when to sell them and whatever, but we're nearly there. For the moment, the idea is high resolution ( 600 DPI ) A0 posters; I'd enjoy anyone's ideas for something that looks nice. Here's a showcase of what I have for the moment (with reduced resolution, of course), please comment on what you think works and what doesn't! Julia sets: Mandelbrot set: Lorenz attractor: An interesting plot of roots of polynomials: Here's a sample showing how high the resolution is: so yeah I'm not joking when I say the resolution is high. I hope WarwickPrint will be able to cope with it :P I'm still in the process of making the posters (I have basically been up all night), so there are more to come. I can still do the planned ones with digits of pi and stuff, but it just doesn't look as awesome as the ones I've done so far, it's a bit bland! All other ideas welcome. Have fun. Edit: Added Lorenz attractor. Edit: Added polynomial roots image. |

All of them look really nice. If pressed (only a limited number could be printed or something) I think I'd prefer the first one and the Mandelbrot set but whatever is fine really. (That is pretty ridiculous resolution :p) |

I'm calculating the data for my secret awesome image at the moment, according to my calculations it should take at least 5 days to compute all that, probably more. It's going to look absolutely awesome though. Maybe I should consider using the supercomputing facilities available at Warwick. |

These are awesome, the only problem is that the new one has to be printed the size of a house to get the best bits, maybe we could magnify sections in the black areas. Or even the lower half since it's symmetric? |

I would like to thank Alexander Thomas Aubrey Oakes (0624729) for his excellent work on the posters. |
