A cautious thread for those students who may have slightly slipped from their revision timetables.

Yesterday, I took a 20 minute tea break at 2:15 instead of a 15 minute one, but still finished at 6pm!

I think you were also using Everest and Ward, An Introduction to Number Theory, Springer GTM. Jones and Jones as well, but there isn't that much that you need in that one.

I'm probably writing mine when I get back since I haven't taken most of the books I need with me.

Work is slow. Ive been reading really old maths books and i found this abosolute gem in the middle of a very formally worded book

"The method of descent is an ingenious one. It is clear that the major difficulty is in finding the descent; the rest is duck soup."

Made my day. As you may guess it was a pretty poor day.

Thanks cosmin, now i can read the books i wrote the plan on.

Was reading another really old maths book and I found "fudge" as an item in the index. That led to this quote

"during the proof below we will fudge this issue."

Crazy, maths was fun even in the 1960's

Miles Reid's books often have rather interesting indexes :)
