[Dg]:=<De Rham Cohomology>/ The future of Dg

Monday 18th February, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm - MS03

A few weeks ago Tom Boardman gave a talk on homology and De Rham Cohomology. Unfortunately by the time he got to the second (possibly more interesting) bit it was 9pm and he sort of rushed through it at a baffling rate.

This monday 7:30 MS03, balance will be restored as differential forms are built up from first principles to the abstract and awesomely powerful theory that now forms the heart of a millenium prize problem (The Hodge Conjecture). Theorems will be proved, fun will be had.

Dual to this (not Alexander-Spanier cohomology) is our need for feedback. Two years ago [Dg] was just a twinkle in our collective eye and it has grown, shaped, changed and otherwise homotopied into something wholly unrecognisable. The original idea was to have attendees offer to read up on things and present ad-hoc, plans were thrown around for official mechanisms to link with second year essays and group presentations were envisaged as the norm.

With election time looming and the exec's unfailing talons inexorably being torn out of the very fabric of maths, this is a chance for real change. Join us as discussion group meets focus group meets cohomological differential awesomeness. Then we go to the pub.
