Last year, your favourite mathtastic mathciety ran a series of informal lectures for first and second years pre-exams: the idea was to bring you up to speed and give you an overview of topics to make your exams just a little better- Their success was, to be honest, mixed at best, but we want to change that.
This year they're coming back, bigger and better than ever, but we need your help to make 'em that way...
We want to know what you want:
- A heuristic walk through the subject matter ("this basically means that")?
- A feel for the techniques ("if you get a proof with an epsilon use...")?
- A walk though selected exam questions? (which ones?)
- Something accessible (ie. Chatty)?
- Something you can take notes from (ie. a proper lecture)?
- Examples?
- Which subjects?
- A maths cafe style support session afterwards?
- Support classes?
- Or something completely different...
We can't provide all of these in the 1, maybe 2, hours we'll have (otherwise we might as well do the uni's lecturing ourselves!), but the chance to learn in an environment where you CAN ask questions, and where the people in charge remember their own struggles with the material all too well, has been a real help in the past.
To prioritise, we need to know what's important to you... Tell us at 5pm in the undergrad common room this friday or go to the forums to post your preference pronto.
