We mathematicians don’t really have a reputation as the most social of people. We know that isn’t right; we need to break the trend.
As your social secretary, my aim is to focus on the PEOPLE who study the subject, putting them first, not the subject. A social is about hanging out together – spending time together, chatting about maths or anything else that’s on your mind. No pressure to out-maths the guy/girl next to you (although there’ll always be the opportunity to do so!). Socials should be about getting to know each other as people, you’re a person first and foremost, a mathematician second.
So whether you drink or whether you don’t, whether you want to talk about maths or whether you want to get as far away from it as possible, socials in the coming exec year will be accessible to everyone… and what’s more, they’ll be a ridiculous amount of fun……
But only if you vote for me!
