The Integrating Factor

Q.png
Wednesday 21st October, 7:30 pm - 12:00 am - Mathematics Department

The Integrating Factor is our first major social of the year - and it's going to be big.

The union is still a state so we'll be holding it in the department. Expect music, expect drinks and snacks, and, above all, expect epic banter! This is definitely not one to miss, whether; you want to meet people on the course, extend fresher's fortnight or simply take advantage of our massive socials budget!

DG := <Professor Stewart's Hoard of Mathematical Treasures>

hoard.jpg
Thursday 15th October, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm - MS.02

We have the pleasure to host a guest talk by department celebrity Ian Stewart, who will be presenting material from his new book, "Professor Stewart's Hoard of Mathematical Treasures". Make sure you take a look at the latest copy of our magazine, The Mathemagician: some excerpts of his latest book are included.

After the talk, everyone is invited to the Staff Common Room for some food and drink. Many people from the mathematics department will be there, from undergraduates to lecturers!

This is the first Discussion Group of the year, and as such it is an exceptional opportunity to hear about interesting mathematics. The regular Discussion Groups will be resuming on Week 4, so if you're starving for more interesting mathematics, don't fret!

Puzzle Trail and BBQ Social !

BBQ2.jpg.jpg
Saturday 21st June, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm - The Street (Maths Building) / BBQ Site 3

The Warwick Mathematics Society will be running a Puzzle Trail ending in a BBQ at BBQ site 3 (the one behind Claycroft and Arthur Vick).

In teams of up to four, rush round campus as fast as possible solving simple logic and (slightly) mathsy puzzles and then come and join us for some food and post-exam chill-out in the sun (hopefully). Bring your own meat, or buy it there.

Open to EVERYONE, you don't have to be a member of anything or know anything about differential geometry. Invite hall-mates, house-mates, just-mates, anyone. One pound entry for the Puzzle Trail and prizes to be awarded for the winning teams.

The Puzzles really won't be too hard, so don't worry too much about not being able to do the trail. WMS members will be on hand to offer hints and clues, if you do really get stuck.

Bring your own food and drink, we'll supply the buns and the barbecue.

It all kicks off at 1pm Saturday Week 9 (*21st June*) in The Street (Maths building), and the BBQ will be there all day (1-7pm) on the BBQ site 3.

Topological Banana

Monday 12th May, 9:00 pm - 1:00 am - Top B

Next Monday the WMS is having a social in Top B. There will be lots of frivolous fun, frolics, dangerous drinks mayhem, and hats...

For early birds, we will be up in the grad from 8:30 and heading down to top b at 9. We'll grab some seats upstairs. Come say hi.

Exec Handover Pub Social

Friday 7th March, 7:00 pm - 11:30 pm - City Arms, Earlsdon

Join us at the end of week 9 in the City Arms, Earlsdon, for a farewell send off of the old exec and a celebration for the new exec. This is a really good chance to get to know your new exec and to have your say in the society while the newbies are young and easily influenced.

Also for people on campus we will be in the Grad Pub from 6pm and will help everyone get to Earlsdon.

See you in the pub!
